Gila J. Bronner, CPA, is President and CEO of Bronner Group, LLC. Throughout her distinguished career, Gila has assisted several hundred government entities across the United States and Puerto Rico in streamlining business practices, implementing improved internal controls, and developing strong public oversight mechanisms.

Gila is a nationally recognized authority on government compliance and oversight and has written and lectured extensively on the subjects of auditor independence, government efficiency and reform, grants management, and government accountability. She is a recognized thought-leader on public sector governance and compliance matters.

Over her 30-plus year career, Gila has been an active national leader in the accounting profession. This includes:

  •  Board of Directors of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA)

  •  Executive Committee of AICPA's Political Leadership Cabinet

  •  Illinois CPA Society (ICPAS) where she served in the following roles:

    • Chairman of the Society's Regulation and Legislation Committee

Gila is a licensed certified public accountant in Illinois, Indiana, California, Florida, and Georgia. Gila previously served as a key staff member for the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) and with the global accounting firm Peat Marwick (now KPMG). For two consecutive years, Accounting Today named Gila one of the top 100 influential people in accounting.

Gila has comprehensive experience as a board member and deep knowledge of institutional governance. Gila has assisted many governments and government-related entities in strategically optimizing their organizations. She also serves or has served on numerous civic and professional boards, as well as several independent oversight and advisory commissions including:

  • Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board (FASAB)

  • Governing Council of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM)

  • National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA) Advisory Council Financial Audit Committee (FAC)

Headquartered in Chicago, Bronner was founded by the firm’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Gila J. Bronner, in 1987. Ms. Bronner, a certified public accountant (CPA), had built a widely respected reputation for expertise in the area of governmental accounting.

What started as a certified, woman-owned small business quickly grew in size and stature. Engagements to provide accounting and financial management support to City of Chicago and State of Illinois agencies provided the foundation for expansion into more than a dozen U.S. states and over 500 different jurisdictions.

Today the firm has eleven offices across the nation and focuses on providing professional services in three key areas: strategy, transformation, and accountability. Bronner is a certified D/WBE throughout the United States and is included on a wide variety of master contracts and purchasing schedules.
